After scoring his first Formula 1 point in Malaysia earlier this season before enjoying another top ten in Britain, Nico Hülkenberg notched up his best result so far last time out in Hungary by finishing sixth and snatching another eight points in the process. The GP2 Champion therefore heads to Spa-Francorchamps in determined mood.
Having finished second in the GP2 Feature Race last year, Hülkenberg then retired in the Sunday round although the German is excited about challenging the Ardennes venue in F1 machinery.
“After Hungary, I spent some time analysing the race weekend with my engineers and have some good data,” he said. “It was nice to go into the shutdown period with a good result on the score sheets – it’s allowed me to fully relax and I’ve since had a really nice few weeks’ break.
“It also gave me some time to increase my training schedule in preparation for some quite demanding races which lie ahead of us now.
“Next up is Spa, I’m really excited to get going! We’ve definitely made progress with the pace of the FW32 in recent races and I definitely feel that I’ve upped my qualifying and race performances; this gives me the confidence to feel quite positive about the remaining third of the year.”
