Di Resta to remain on sidelines at Spa

24 August 2010

Due to the nature of the Belgian circuit and therefore the importance of each race driver perfecting his car setup, Force India test and reserve driver Paul di Resta will not be in action on-track this Friday after a busy summer period which has included two DTM meetings.

Having first done so at the second round of the championship in Australia, Paul has taken part in a number of Friday first practice sessions this year although Force India regulars Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi will be in need of as much practice time as possible in Belgium, not least as the weather is also prone to throwing a number of variables into the mix.

“Unfortunately I'm not going to be in the car this time out as Spa is a pretty unique track,” said Scot di Resta, who is a DTM championship contender.

“We've also got some work to do on the new blown floor and the low-downforce package, so it's natural that we need to give the race drivers the additional time to properly evaluate.

“I'm happy with this - although it's always hard to sit out on such a great track - as it's a team effort and we've got a big fight on our hands to hold onto sixth in the championship. I'll get my chance at Monza, which I can't wait for.”
