The Formula 1 fraternity has already been greeted by a soaking Spa on Thursday afternoon and more showers could affect the majority of the weekend in Belgium.
With the legendary circuit’s location in the Ardennes having always given it a unique microclimate, a heavy downpour continues to batter the venue as Thursday lunch time dawns.
Sporadic, heavy showers are being forecast for Friday and Saturday although it is believed that the rain may abate slightly as race day arrives. Ambient daytime temperatures are expected to fluctuate between 7 to 17°C (45-63°F).
The last rain-affected Grand Prix in the country was staged in 2008, with Lewis Hamilton beating Kimi Räikkönen in a superb tussle before Felipe Massa was later handed victory by default.
