Yamamoto stopped for ‘alarm message’

27 August 2010

Sakon Yamamoto has revealed the reason he ground to a halt in the dying moments of Spa’s second practice session on Friday afternoon, although the root cause of the problem is yet to be discovered.

Driving in his second Belgian Grand Prix and first since 2007, in which he finished 17th for Spyker, the Japanese driver ended today 23rd on the timesheets and ahead of Virgin Racing’s Timo Glock, who crashed at Liège corner early on.

“We were able to get a lot of data in both sessions today under wet and drying conditions,” Sakon explained.

“We fulfilled our testing programme and collected more data for the car.

“Before the end of the session in the afternoon, I had to stop the car when I got an alarm message on my display. Now we are looking forward to qualifying and we will see what tomorrow brings.”
