Kubica philosophical after pit-stop mistake
Robert Kubica produced another fine race performance, awarding Renault for its new and effective f-duct system, by finishing third at Spa on Sunday although the Pole did lose second place due to an unforced error.
At his last pit-stop, which also featured Lewis Hamilton, Mark Webber and Felipe Massa in the pit lane, the Renault driver overshot his pit box and therefore gift-wrapped second position for the Red Bull driver.
“It was a good race for us – very, very tricky and very difficult,” said Kubica. “On the first pit-stop we did a very good job, very good in-lap.
“On the second I had to change a few things on my steering wheel - wing seconds things like that - and got a bit distracted; I jumped on the brakes and locked my front wheels.
“Unfortunately that was my one mistake in the race which cost me a position, but that’s racing.
