Alguersuari celebrates third points finish

29 August 2010

A resolute Jaime Alguersuari hung onto tenth place in order to collect another World Championship point at Spa. The Barcelona driver, who fended off the Force India of Vitantonio Liuzzi for the position, also finished in the top ten in Malaysia and Spain earlier this season.

Although Alguersuari remains the last driver in the standings to have scored in 2010, Sunday’s result was a welcome one after fellow countryman Pedro de la Rosa – who was running tenth on Lap 42 of 44 – went off into the gravel at Stavelot corner.

“I have had a good weekend and I was already happy with my performance in qualifying yesterday while today I had the most exciting race of my career,” said a delighted Jaime.

“It was very difficult to make the right call on tyre choice. I think that, within our team’s potential, today’s performance was not too bad and I am delighted to have picked up another point.

“I can’t wait for Monza now and the chance to put on a good show for all the people from our factory who will be there to watch the race.”
