Yamamoto: I'm staying until the end of the season

2 September 2010

Hispania’s Sakon Yamamoto has revealed that he will be remaining in a race seat with the Hispania team until the end of the 2010 season, although it is unknown whether Bruno Senna will stay put alongside.

HRT surprised all at Silverstone in July when reserve driver Yamamoto was called in to replace Senna at late notice and, although this was thought to be a one-off, the former Super Aguri and Spyker man has continued to race since but by replacing Karun Chandhok instead.

Now, the 28-year-old from Toyohashi has told The Netherlands’ Formule1.nl that he will remain in the cockpit until the end of the year.

“I will finish off the season,” he said. “Whether I will be replacing Bruno and Karun, I don’t know, but it’s certain that I will compete at all remaining races.”

He also stresses that affairs amongst the team-mates remain amicable. “My relationships with Bruno and Karun are fine,” he confirmed. “The team will decide which of them will drive but my position is no doubt.”
