Bridgestone announces final tyre allocations

7 September 2010

Bridgestone has announced which compounds of dry, Slick tyres will be used for the final four races of the season, which also mark the last quartet of Grands Prix for the Japanese manufacturer before it leaves the sport at the end of the year.

With Bridgestone having announced its exit from Formula 1 and with Pirelli entering in 2011, just six races remain before Japan’s Potenza product is replaced by Italy’s P-Zero. For Suzuka to Yas Marina, no large surprises have been announced, with each of the races set to feature the customary two-step difference between compounds.

“The most interesting question for these final allocations is which tyres will we take to Korea?” Hirohide Hamashima, Bridgestone’s Head of Motorsport Tyre Development, says ahead of next month’s inaugural race at Yeongam.

“As always for a new race we work closely with the FIA, the circuit and the teams to reach our decision but in addition to all this information we always have safety in mind so our allocation for the first race in Korea will naturally be on the conservative side.”

As always, the softer of the two Slick compounds on offer (Option) will be distinguished from the harder (Prime) by a green-painted sidewall.
