Karun Chandhok became the first driver to circulate the brand-new Yeongam circuit in the Republic of Korea at the weekend, which is set to host the seventeenth round of the championship next month.
An Hispania driver this season, former Red Bull Junior Team member Chandhok took the wheel of the Red Bull demonstration car in Korea as none of the Austrian company’s regular drivers were available.
“It was a real privilege,” the Indian told the official F1 website. “I certainly left my mark on the track with all the tyre marks from the donuts! It has a good mix of corners.
"The first part of the lap has long straights followed by slow corners, which should allow plenty of passing opportunities.
“It's also got a bit of a street circuit feel to it actually, with the walls being quite close, and you can't really look through the apex of a lot of the corners - a bit like the Valencia street circuit.”
