Fittipaldi to be steward for Italian Grand Prix

8 September 2010

It has been confirmed by Formula 1 governing body the FIA that former double World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi will be the racing driver in Race Control for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza, marking the second time the Brazilian has taken the responsibility after June’s Canadian Grand Prix.

Following the FIA’s new-for-2010 initiative, 1972 and 1974 title winner Fittipaldi will as usual join three other adjudicators in order to share a competitor’s perspective on any incidents which may be under investigation over the course of the weekend.

Incidentally, the last Grand Prix in Belgium featured a first under the current F1 stewarding system as not a single incident was reported throughout either of the first two practice sessions on Friday.
