Hispania Racing has confirmed that a mechanic was knocked over by Sakon Yamamoto's car during a pit-stop in Sunday's Italian Grand Prix although the man in question is believed to be in a stable condition.
With an ambulance having been required, the pit lane was briefly closed during the race and HRT released the following statement shortly the chequered flag flew:
'A member of the Hispania Racing, HRT F1 Team, had an incident during Sakon Yamamoto’s pit-stop.
He has remained conscious all the time and been taken immediately to the Medical Center. The situation is under control and we are waiting for more information from the Medical Centre.'
