Williams to take big update to Singapore

15 September 2010

Williams F1 Technical Director Sam Michael has confirmed the Grove-based outfit will take a ‘large upgrade’ to the Singapore Grand Prix in less than two weeks time as the squad looks to overhaul Force India and take sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship.

The Williams team closed up on Dr Vijay Mallya's men following the race at Monza and now heading into the final five flyaway races, the two teams are separated by just eleven points - Williams on 47 versus Force India’s 58.

“We have a large upgrade for the FW32 for Singapore. It will be the last upgrade package we will bring to the car this season and we expect it to be competitive,” Michael confirmed.

“It was a good result [at the Italian GP], one which shows that we are making solid progress with the whole car package.

“The FW32 was competitive among the top runners, as demonstrated by Nico's fastest lap time, which was just 0.4seconds off the quickest.

“We had no problems on either car and it was good to see us running competitively with the front runners,” he summed-up.
