Hispania Racing is pleased to report that the pit lane mechanic who was injured during the Italian Grand Prix is continuing to recover and is set to leave hospital in due course.
The German mechanic in question was struck by the car of Sakon Yamamoto as, still standing in front of its right-rear wheel as the pit-stop came to a close, the Japanese driver pulled away when the lollipop was raised.
‘The HRT F1 Team member who was involved in the incident at the pit-stop at Monza is recovering positively,’ reads an official message from the Murcia-based squad.
‘He is soon supposed to leave the hospital in Italy where he was kept under observation and go back to Germany, his home country.’
