Force India lodges appeal and Hülkenberg protest

26 September 2010

The Force India team has submitted an appeal against the stewards’ decision to penalise Adrian Sutil in Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix and therefore mean the squad loses significant ground in its battle with Williams for sixth in the Constructors’ Championship.

Sutil finished eighth to collect four points in Marina Bay although stewards later announced that the German had been demoted to tenth, the single point position and in the process elevating Williams’ Nico Hülkenberg to eighth.

With Sutil’s penalty having been for driving too wide and outside the white lines marking the track at Turn 7, Force India is also protesting a moment in which they claim Hülkenberg gained an advantage by cutting a corner.

At present, the two teams are locked together in the standings with 59 points apiece.

Further development:
Hülkenberg also handed 20-second penalty
