Yamamoto unsure about next season

7 October 2010

Sakon Yamamoto has said that no plans are yet in place regarding the 2011 season, having driven for Hispania in selected Grands Prix this year. At present, the Murcia-based squad is yet to establish its line-up for what will be its second F1 campaign.

Having first contested the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka with Super Aguri in 2006, Yamamoto returns this weekend; incidentally, the Toyohasi-born driver is also returning in the current season, having been replaced by Christian Klien in Singapore after coming down with a suspected case of food poisoning.

“Yes, I feel very good,” Sakon confirmed when asked on Thursday if he had recovered.

“It’s always special for me to be back at Suzuka, as I first saw Formula 1 at Suzuka and started go-kart racing here as well; I am really proud to be here and also really looking forward to racing in front of many supporters in Japan.”

However, Yamamoto was unable to shed any light on his plans for 2011. “We still don’t know how I am going to do with HRT next year,” he began to sum up, “but we will try to do our best and I’m looking forward to working with them again.”
