2010 South Korean Formula 1 Grand Prix: Saturday qualifying results

For the first time this season, Sakon Yamamoto has out-qualified Hispania Racing team-mate Bruno Senna by registering a lap time some eight tenths of a second quicker as the Brazilian struggled in Korean qualifying on Saturday.

As the pair line up on the back row of Sunday’s starting grid, Yamamoto will also be setting off the significantly cleaner side of the brand-new race track.

“I am very happy about our qualifying result,” said the Japanese driver. “With the data we got yesterday and this morning, we were able to improve the car and I did my best lap in qualifying.

“We were very close to the other competitors and I want to thank the team for preparing the car very well.

“Now we are looking forward to tomorrow, but we don’t know if it’s going to rain during the race.” At present, there is a 60 percent chance of Sunday showers.
