The Netherlands’s Yelmer Buurman is a likely candidate for a Formula 1 test with Force India in Abu Dhabi, GPUpdate.net can exclusively reveal. Such a happening would mark a maiden F1 outing for the 23-year-old, who could be sharing the cockpit that week with Portugal's António Félix da Costa.
When contacted on Wednesday afternoon, Buurman (pictured above) would neither confirm nor deny the possibility of being part of the annual Young Driver test, although the Gelderland-born driver has hinted that an announcement can be expected later this week.
The test would be a single day at Yas Marina for the Indian outfit, which has a Dutch co-owner in Michiel Mol.
It is also being reported that 19-year-old da Costa - last year's Formula Renault 2.0 NEC Champion - could be in the running for a test drive with the team originally known as Jordan, having won three F3 Euro Series races this year.
Another Dutchman who could be testing F1 machinery in a fortnight’s time is Giedo van der Garde, as the GP2 race winner – this year’s Addax team-mate to Sauber-bound Sergio Pérez - remains in discussions with regards to both the Abu Dhabi session and a full-time race seat for 2011.
