Di Grassi prepares for first home race

4 November 2010

Formula 2’s three new teams of 2010 now have just two races remaining in which a chance remains of scoring World Championship points in their maiden season. Inside two of them, however, sit Brazilian drivers – one of which is Lucas di Grassi - who are both set to contest their home Grand Prix for the first time this weekend.

Hispania’s Bruno Senna will naturally be in great demand to both the media and any fans lucky enough to be near the paddock at Interlagos this weekend, with late uncle and triple World Champion Ayrton having won at his home circuit for McLaren in 1991 and 1993.

However, Virgin Racing’s di Grassi is also highly excited about the event, with – for the record - the field’s two other Brazilians being Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Williams’ Rubens Barrichello.

“It is a dream come true to race in a Grand Prix in your home country for the first time,” Lucas commented.

“It will be another very difficult race but I am motivated to perform in front of my fans. The key is to keep focused and try to push 100 per cent at all times.”
