De la Rosa in talks with two teams

6 November 2010

Pedro de la Rosa has said that he will wait no longer than the end of November before declaring his plans ahead of the 2011 season. At present, the Barcelona driver is assisting Pirelli’s tyre development programme ahead of the company’s return to Formula 1 although much speculation in the Spanish press continues to link the 39-year-old with Hispania Racing.

Bearing in mind the nationality of the new-for-2010 team, it is no surprise that the former Arrows, Jaguar, McLaren and Sauber racer is being linked with the Murcia-based outfit, although any gossip is set to come to an end within the next few weeks.

“Good question. I'll have to make a decision at the end of November,” he told Spain’s SportYou.es when asked about next season.

“This year I will not be leaving it until the last moment, because I did that last year and it becomes like musical chairs and can go wrong.”

De la Rosa, who was replaced at Sauber after the Italian Grand Prix by Nick Heidfeld, added that HRT may not be the only option for a race seat.

“Just as we continue to talk to teams, the teams will talk to us,” he described. “That doesn’t mean that interest is necessarily going to materialise, but the market is open. There are two teams which have contacted me, but that doesn’t mean you’ve got something – that’s the way it works in Formula 1.”
