Force India confirms testers Buurman, Félix da Costa
10 November 2010 – As revealed exclusively by GPUpdate.net last week, Force India has confirmed that it will be running The Netherlands’ Yelmer Buurman and Portugal’s Antonio Félix da Costa in next week’s Young Driver test session at Yas Marina.
Since Formula 3, 23-year-old Buurman has competed in a selection of racing championships including Superleague Formula, GP2 Asia Series for Tiago Monteiro’s Ocean Racing Technology and GP2 for Christian Horner’s Arden squad.
“There is a fantastic atmosphere and I felt immediately at home. I am well prepared and will do my very best to show that I am more than quick enough for F1.”
At 19, Félix da Costa is the younger of the pair and will in fact become the youngest Portuguese pilot to ever drive a Formula 1 car. Having won karting championships between 2003 and 2006, he has since raced in series such as the Formula Renault Eurocup and A1 Grand Prix before competing in the F3 Euro Series for Motopark Academy this year.
“Now I can say that I will drive for the Force India F1 Team in this test, it will be a memorable day in my career and I hope the first of many more at the wheel of a Formula 1 car,” he added.
“I would like to thank Force India for this opportunity and also Tiago Monteiro and Sowhat Management, who have been tireless while making a very professional support to my career.”
