Shortly after the conclusion of the 2010 season in Abu Dhabi, Virgin Racing announced that it will be running Brazil’s Luiz Razia, Belgium’s Jérôme d’Ambrosio and Indonesia’s Rio Haryanto in the coming week’s Young Driver test session.
All three drivers have controlled the Virgin Racing Formula 1 car on the team’s simulator although the trio will now have the chance of entering the cockpit for real at Yas Marina, with GP3’s Haryanto driving on Tuesday morning before handing over to GP2 pilot d’Ambrosio in the afternoon.
Razia, also a GP2 competitor, will enjoy a full day on Wednesday.
“I am very excited about driving the VR-01 in a proper test at last,” said the 21-year-old from in Barreiras.
“I drove it earlier in the year at the filming day in Jerez and I also drove a Super Aguri at Estoril a few weeks ago, but a full day’s testing is something different.
“I’ve been practicing on the simulator for the whole season and it will be fantastic to get a feel for the real thing. It’s been a great year working with the team and this is undoubtedly the best bit.”
