Although most in the field were agreeably pleased with the first-time performance of Pirelli’s new Formula 1 tyres in Abu Dhabi on Friday, it has been confirmed to GPUpdate.net that Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull ran into trouble.
Second quickest to Felipe Massa’s Ferrari on the timesheets, the newly-crowned Champion ended the day just over three tenths of a second slower.
However, the cause of a left-rear problem is still being investigated by Pirelli technicians, with it not being known at present whether the tyre failed or if a puncture was picked up on-track.
