Sauber and Interproteccion announce link-up

21 December 2010

Sauber Motorsport has revealed a new joint venture with insurance group Interproteccion, which becomes a new Premium Partner of the Swiss team.

Formed over 30 years ago, Mexico’s Interproteccion comes on-board ahead of national Sergio Perez’s maiden season with the team in 2011. The logos of the company will be displayed on the rear wing endplates of the cars driven by the GP2 championship runner-up and team-mate Kamui Kobayashi.

“We met the key people from Interproteccion for the first time at the Brazilian Grand Prix in November and are very pleased that we’ve been able to come to an agreement so quickly,” explains Team Principal Peter Sauber.

“Interproteccion is present in over 100 countries and the international nature of Formula 1 offers correspondingly broad potential for synergies. We’re particularly happy, of course, that in Interproteccion we’ve now added a second Mexican company to our list of partners alongside Telmex.”

Alongside Kobayashi and Pérez, reserve driver and GP3 title winner Esteban Gutiérrez boosts Sauber’s number of Mexican pilots to two for next season.
