Official: Di Resta debuts alongside Sutil and Hülkenberg

26 January 2011

Reported exclusively by GPUpdate.net this morning, it has now been confirmed in Glasgow that Germany’s Adrian Sutil will race alongside Scotland’s Paul di Resta at Force India this year. As Vitantonio Liuzzi leaves the squad after a single full season as race driver, Williams outcast Nico Hülkenberg joins as third driver.

Having driven in a selection of Friday practice sessions for the Silverstone-based team last year, West Lothian’s di Resta went on to clinch the DTM title in China in November. Wednesday’s event, presented in Scotland by BBC pit lane reporter Lee McKenzie, followed a similar media gathering for di Resta in 2010.

“I’m very excited for this and it's great to be doing this in Glasgow, announcing this news,” he commented on stage.

“Last year I became third driver here and good things happened, so here's hoping we get more good things. I’ve not set any ambitions for this year, I want to enjoy it, but Force India have plans and ambitions.”

The 24-year-old went on to discuss his first home Grand Prix in July: “I think Silverstone could be a personal highlight this year. I’ve had no advice from my family yet but I’m sure they'll offer it!”
