I appreciate Force India trust, says Hülkenberg

26 January 2011

Nico Hülkenberg has described his appreciation for being kept in Formula 1 as reserve driver by Force India, with the German having lost a Williams race seat to GP2 title successor Pastor Maldonado following his rookie season.

It was announced in Glasgow on Wednesday afternoon that Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta will be spearheading the Silverstone squad’s line-up for 2011, with Hülkenberg remaining on-hand and readily available to race should either of the aforementioned pair be unable to compete.

“I am happy I can stay in F1 in 2011,” the 23-year-old admitted. “I am looking forward to working with Force India and I am sure the team will continue improving in the future. I appreciate the team trusting me by signing a long-term contract. I will do my very best to live up to expectations.”

"My motivation is to convince the team of my skills in order to be back in a race cockpit in 2012."
