Hülkenberg to begin Force India testing

27 January 2011

Force India has announced that new reserve driver Nico Hülkenberg will be returning to a Formula 1 cockpit sooner than expected by being first to drive in Valencia testing next week. With proceedings set to start on Tuesday morning, the former Williams racer will control last year’s VJM03.

As the Silverstone-based team finally confirmed its full 2011 line-up in Scotland on Wednesday, Hülkenberg expressed his gratitude but reiterated that he hopes to return to racing in 2012.

On Tuesday, the German - also set to drive on two more test days - will be on-track until lunch time before handing over to Paul di Resta, who will enjoy most time in the car for the first of four pre-season tests.

The 2009 GP2 Champion has also explained, via his official website, that he will be driving one of the race drivers’ cars in each Friday first practice session across the course of the season.

Force India’s full Valencia test line-up is as follows:

Tuesday morning Nico Hülkenberg
Tuesday afternoon Paul di Resta
Wednesday Paul di Resta
Thursday Adrian Sutil
