Marussia Virgin supporting new karting category

28 February 2011

Marussia Virgin Racing has announced that for 2011 it is now backing and closely following the new Formula KGP karting series – a seven-round championship joining the Super 1 Series in which a selection of up-and-coming talents will be competing.

To highlight its support of the series, Marussia Virgin Racing logos will be appearing on the karts plus driver overalls and helmets. A launch for the championship was formally held at the PF International Kart track in Lincolnshire on Saturday, with Jérôme d’Ambrosio having been present for a selection of demonstration laps.

“Karting is the beginning of a long but ultimately very rewarding journey,” explains Marussia Virgin Team Principal John Booth. “I believe very strongly in nurturing the talent of tomorrow and providing opportunities for drivers to move through the ranks.

“It’s not an easy progression, so if the talent is there it should be supported. As a team, we have to think today about the drivers of tomorrow and that means ensuring there is a rich pool of talent to draw from further down the line.”
