Mercedes puts 'exploded' F1 car on display

19 March 2011

Paul Veroude has recently created a striking piece of artwork for the Mercedes-Benz World F1 Exhibition in Surrey. The Dutchman’s work - entitled ‘View Suspended 2’ - features over 3,200 components that have been specifically placed under a metal frame in order to showcase the inner-workings of a modern Formula 1 car.

It is not the first time that Veroude has created a masterpiece on this scale however, with the artist also known for his deconstruction of the BAR 005 which featured the Honda Racing's 2006 livery. Mercedes GP CEO Nick Fry visited the museum to unveil the work earlier this month, and was left impressed by the creative display.

"Formula 1 is watched by more than 580 million people worldwide," Fry explained. "So to be able to see a racing car in this way is something very special and a unique look at the heart of the sport."
