Chandhok: Crash was totally my fault

Karun Chandhok has accepted full responsibility for the embarrassing incident which involved the Indian crashing just three corners into his Team Lotus career.

Having been confirmed as the Norfolk team’s reserve driver earlier this month, the former Hispania pilot was first out of the pit lane as the season-opening practice session began on Friday morning. However, the Chennai man clouted the inside wall when applying the power exiting Turn 3.

“I'm obviously disappointed to have had such a short run for my first time in the Team Lotus car, but I put my hands up to it and totally accept it was a combination of a slippery track and less grip than I expected from the tyres that combined to put me out so early,” he said later in the evening.
