Team Lotus has confirmed to GPUpdate.net that Davide Valsecchi, a member of its new Driver Development Programme for 2011, will be taking a turn to drive in Sepang’s first practice session on Friday.
Italian Valsecchi, the GP2 Asia Series Champion of 2009-10, will be stepping into Heikki Kovalainen’s car for the first 90-minute session in Malaysia.
In Australia, official team reserve driver Karun Chandhok took part on Friday – driving Jarno Trulli’s car – although the Indian, who was the first driver to leave the pits this season, reached only as far as Turn 3 before losing control and hitting the wall.
