FIA: Turbo decision could be overturned

3 June 2011

Despite confirming on Friday that turbocharged, four-cylinder, 1.6-litre engines are now part of Formula 1’s regulations, governing body the FIA notes that the rule could be modified if it is met by opposing opinions from teams.

‘In consultation with the main stakeholders, and following the outcome of this consultation, a fax vote by the WMSC could be considered by 30 June latest to redefine the implementation date of these technical regulations,’ reads a brief official communication from the FIA.
