Esteban Gutiérrez, the 19-year-old Mexican test driver for Sauber, has expressed his disappointment at missing out on a possible F1 debut in Canada this weekend.

With Sergio Pérez having pulled out due to feeling unwell in first practice – a consequence of his heavy Monaco crash just under two weeks ago – Pedro de la Rosa has been placed alongside Kamui Kobayashi, on loan from McLaren.

‘It's a shame to hear about Montreal, hope "Checo" gets better, but I never received indication to prevent this situation. I was ready…’ reigning GP3 Champion Gutiérrez, who now races in GP2, posted on his personal Twitter account.

Gutiérrez is not in Montreal, allegedly as he completes a history exam.
