Cars 2 sponsors Virgin for Silverstone

4 July 2011

The Virgin Racing cars of Timo Glock and Jérôme d’Ambrosio will be carrying Cars 2 branding for this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with the Sheffield-based outfit having confirmed a one-race sponsorship deal with the Disney.Pixar film.

The partnership will be launched on Monday by Virgin CEO Sir Richard Branson and daughter Holly at Horse Guards Parade in London, joining life-size models of cars featured in the animated work such as ‘Lightning McQueen’ and ‘Finn McMissile’.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Cars 2,” says Andy Webb, CEO of Marussia Virgin Racing. “To be associated with Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios is a real privilege for us.

“Our home race, the British Grand Prix, is shaping up to be a thrilling weekend on and off the race track and Cars 2 will really bring our fan experience alive.”

With the voice of Michael Schumacher having featured in Cars, the second edition of the film will include the tones of 2008 Champion Lewis Hamilton, whose car will be dubbed by former Jordan racer Tiago Monteiro for the Portuguese version.
