Did you know? Müller began karting at the age of 12, back in 2004. In his season-seater career, he has always been a protégé of Switzerland's Jenzer Motorsport. He is the first of three Swiss drivers in GP3 and finished the series’ maiden season third overall, behind Champion Esteban Gutiérrez and Robert Wickens who are now the reserve Formula 1 drivers of Sauber and Virgin Racing, respectively.

Two minutes with Nico Müller...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How did you get interested in racing?
I was first racing mountain bikes. My cousin then started karting and I was about 11 years old at that stage. I wanted to try as well, so we went to a kart track in Switzerland and I had a go; from then on I didn’t want to stop. We bought an old mini kart and that was the start of it.
What is your greatest achievement so far?
Last year was for sure my best year. It was a surprising (GP3) season for me, I didn’t really expect to be that far up at the end of the season. It was very, very nice. My goal at the beginning was to be in the top ten by the end of the year, but we actually finished in the top three so it was great.
Do you have any racing heroes?
For me, Senna is a great idol. I really admire him and I think he was a really nice personality as well.
Who excites you most on the current F1 grid?
Today I think Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso are generally driving wisely and are two of the greatest drivers.
And finally…tell us something ridiculous about yourself please…
Something strange about me? I live in the mountains, far away from everything and in the middle of nature – but I like it there! It’s a good thing to be able to relax after a race weekend. I think it’s also reasonable that we don’t have Formula 1 races in Switzerland (where motorsport is banned), but it would be good to have a track to go testing or do a shakedown at, something like that. But for an F1 race I don’t think the interest is high enough, unfortunately; we are a small country and to have something like that, with all of that organisation, wouldn’t be easy. But it would be cool!
