Heidfeld threatening court action

25 August 2011
2011 Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix

Nick Heidfeld has told reporters that he could take legal action towards the Lotus Renault GP team after being replaced in the car by Bruno Senna. The German, who has substituted for the injured Robert Kubica from the start of the season, had been contracted to the Enstone outfit until the end of the 2011 campaign.

After finishing on the podium at the Malaysian Grand Prix, Heidfeld has since struggled to make a positive impression with Team Principal Eric Boullier despite still being the team’s highest points scorer in the standings.

After reports began to circulate that reserve driver Senna would be racing, Renault confirmed as much via a short press release issued on Wednesday evening.

At present, with legal matters to solve, Senna is only confirmed for the Belgian and Italian Grands Prix. Contrary to its Wednesday announcement, the team is yet to release a Thursday statement in relation to the matter.

Also on Thursday:
Senna confirmed only for Spa and Monza

Further development:
Heidfeld could return in Singapore
