Trulli: Lotus deal done for 2012
31 August 2011 – Team Lotus have already confirmed Jarno Trulli as a race driver for the 2012 Formula 1 season, according to the Italian, although the Anglo-Malaysian outfit are yet to confirm as much. Trulli has been with the Tony Fernandes-run operation since it debuted on the grid at the start of the 2010 season.
“We have already sorted next year,” Trulli told website Manipe F1. It was fixed and is fixed, so we are not in contact talks at all at the moment - it's all fixed for 2012.”
He admits that he is unsure when an official confirmation will be made:
“I have a contract. Whether the team want to announce it or not, it's none of my business.”
Trulli is set to be running alongside Heikki Kovalainen once again. To date Karun Chandhok is the only other driver to have raced for the team, as he replaced Trulli for a one-off appearance at this season’s German Grand Prix.
