Liuzzi to run special Monza helmet

6 September 2011

Vitantonio Liuzzi will be one of two Italians in the field for this weekend’s final European race of the Formula 1 season at Monza. To date, the HRT driver’s best personal result is 12th with Force India in 2010 and this year’s event – the 75th of his Grand Prix career - will see the 30-year-old competing with a one-off helmet design.

“I really want to perform well,” he says. “I am always looking forward to racing here because it's my home crowd and I want to do well pull it all together; and if it's at Monza, it's true that it will be even more satisfying. I want this Grand Prix to become a special event for my fans and I have prepared a special surprise for them.”

Liuzzi’s helmet will be presented in front of the HRT garage at 4:30pm local time (BST +1) on Thursday. The Monza design has been inspired by Gianluca Croci of Kaos Design, with HRT explaining to the media that a ‘unique photo opportunity’ will be available with Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Galileo Galilei, Julius Cesar and Dante Alighieri - your guess is as good as ours…
