Jarno Trulli has reiterated that he will be remaining in Formula 1 next season, even though Team Lotus is yet to confirm the renewal of his contract. Having debuted with Minardi in 1997, next year would be the sixteenth F1 campaign for the 2004 Monaco Grand Prix winner.
“I am pretty comfortable for next year,” the Italian told Reuters during Wednesday’s latest FOTA Fans Forum at the Pirelli headquarters in Milan. “Obviously it is not down to me to say where we are but, yes, I am pretty happy with the way we are working with the team and the relationship for the future. I would say that we are settled.
“There was a big step forward for me with the (revised) power steering (for the Hungarian Grand Prix) and it definitely made a huge difference. It will be back here and from now on we can start developing it.”
When asked to verify whether he is staying in the sport, Trulli replied:
“Yes…I think the introduction of KERS next year will be a big step forward; it's going to give us quite a good boost (for Team Lotus, which is yet to run the system).”
