Virgin Racing has announced a partnership with solar energy company Soleco ahead of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix. The Belgian firm, attracted to the team through Jérôme d’Ambrosio, transforms sunshine into electricity through both solar panels and inverters.

The link-up means Soleco logos will be appearing on the race overalls and helmet of d’Ambrosio, as well as on the team’s cars, from Monza onwards.

“We are delighted to welcome Soleco to Marussia Virgin Racing and congratulations to Jérôme,” says team CEO Andy Webb.

“He has acquitted himself well in his debut year of Formula 1 racing and it is very positive for him to have attracted the attentions of an emerging Belgian company.”
