Lotus Renault GP has confirmed that it will be running with its older specification bodywork package for the remainder of the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, with overheating issues affecting Vitaly Petrov’s opening session. The Russian ended this evening's second session in 14th, two places behind team-mate Bruno Senna.

"There was disappointment with Vitaly’s car in first practice because the bodywork upgrade package had a problem with its water radiator," said Allison. "Without time to diagnose the problem we had to make a swift decision to revert to the original package for the remainder of the weekend. We will figure out what went wrong ahead of the next race."

However, Allison says there is still reason to be optimistic ahead of qualifying:

"We experienced handling problems today; but if we can dial these out and obtain some better grip we should improve tomorrow," he concluded.
