Liuzzi to wear special helmet for Japan victims

3 October 2011

Vitantonio Liuzzi will be racing with a limited edition helmet at the Japanese Grand Prix, with it serving as a dedication to the thousands who were affected by the country’s earthquake, tsunami and subsequent nuclear disaster in March.

“For this Grand Prix I’ve wanted to pay my respects to the victims by wearing a special edition helmet named ‘Embracing Japan’, designed by Kaos Design,” explains the Italian HRT driver. “The helmet will later be put up for auction with the benefits going towards charity.”

On Friday, Liuzzi will step out of his cockpit for one session as Narain Karthikeyan gains more practice time ahead of the inaugural Indian Grand Prix later this month.

“We are really motivated to keep on pushing until the end of the season,” Liuzzi continues. “Weather conditions are uncertain, which could be interesting since experiencing difficult weather conditions in Japan may give us a better chance of achieving a good result.”
