Improved visibility at Korea’s pit lane entrance

Improved visibility at Korea’s pit lane entrance

13 October 2011
2011 South Korean Formula 1 Grand Prix

After safety concerns were raised over Yeongam’s final corner last year, modifications have been made ahead of the second Korean Grand Prix this weekend.

After a sequence of corners which will run around what is planned to be a marina, the fast right-handed Turn 17 leads drivers back through a kink and to the start/finish straight. However, in 2010 safety was questioned as the inside retaining wall somewhat reduced visibility, especially of slowing cars which were entering the pits.

As a result, the inside wall at Turn 17 has now been moved back in order to allow drivers greater visibility while rounding what is the track’s penultimate corner. There are no other changes apart from updates to kerbs and verges around the circuit.
