There was no grip at all, says Kobayashi

14 October 2011
2011 South Korean Formula 1 Grand Prix: Friday

Kamui Kobayashi’s comments were plain following Yeongam’s first two practice sessions on Friday, with the opening period having been hit by heavy rain before the second session also took place on a damp track.

“There was no grip at all,” Japan’s Kobayashi, who ended the day 17th fastest and behind Mexican Sauber team-mate Sergio Pérez, said in Korea.

“The track itself has a very low grip level and, on top of that, our car doesn’t make very good use of the Intermediate tyres. In general I don’t mind driving in the rain, and with the full Wets it was no problem, but later with the Intermediates I was struggling a lot.

“It seems to take a long time for this circuit to dry out. In any case, I hope we will have dry conditions tomorrow.”
