Rubens Barrichello is remaining positive ahead of Sunday’s Korean Grand Prix, with the Brazilian explaining that fresh sets of tyres will be crucial throughout the afternoon. The Williams driver was eliminated from the second phase of qualifying when team-mate Pastor Maldonado and Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi improved their respective personal best times, leaving Barrichello back in 18th position.
"We went for just one run, the first lap was actually okay," Barrichello told reporters. "The third lap the tyres already gave up a little bit on me, and we decided to stop. But then some people decided to improve, and the times were very, very close.
"But you know, there was a little bit of a mystery on this qualifying because you can see Red Bull going on the softer tyres and I wonder what tyres they are going to be on in Q3.
"To save tyres for the race is going to be a big factor, so to be 18th or for them to have gone into Q2 to be 17th or 16th doesn’t matter too much. We’ve got to think positive, I have new tyres."
