Horner questions future of FOTA

17 October 2011

Christian Horner, Team Principal of new double World Champions Red Bull Racing, has moved to question the reasoning behind FOTA (the Formula One Teams’ Association). The committee met over the Korean Grand Prix weekend to discuss two matters, although it is yet to come to any agreeable solutions.

“I think that FOTA has reached the crossroads where it needs to deal with some of the key issues moving forward or we'll stop - it's as simple as that,” Horner, head of FOTA's Sporting Regulations working group, told Reuters.

“The principal issues are obviously the Concorde Agreement, the direction that goes in, and fundamentally the RRA (Resource Restriction Agreement). If we can't find agreement within FOTA on that, then what is the purpose of FOTA? They are the fundamental issues that need to be addressed.”

FOTA was established in 2008 and is currently formed by representatives of all Formula 1 teams with the exception of HRT.
