Britain’s Alex Lynn and Lewis Williamson are amongst the 30 drivers who have been nominated for the 2012 FIA Academy. After a shootout, 18 will be selected to receive specialist and fully-funded training from the motorsport governing body, helping to increase skills and responsibilities both on and off the race track.
Heading into its second year, the Academy has increased the number of drivers who will be accepted from ten to 18. In the preliminary shootout stage, they will be required to demonstrate abilities over a four-day period of driving and non-driving activities, surveyed by former Formula 1 driver and double Le Mans 24 Hour winner Alexander Wurz as well as ex World Rally Champion co-driver Robert Reid. The Selection Event will again be taking place in Melk, Austria.
