HRT paints black ribbons on cars

27 October 2011
2011 Indian Formula 1 Grand Prix: Thursday

HRT has added a black-painted ribbon to its livery for this weekend’s Indian Grand Prix as a tribute to the recently deceased Dan Wheldon and Marco Simoncelli, killed in respective IndyCar and MotoGP crashes.

Motorsport remains in deep mourning for both men, with Wheldon having flipped upside down in a 15-car pile-up, contacting with catch fencing cockpit-first during the IndyCar season finale in Las Vegas.

Less than a week later, Simoncelli was struck by the innocent Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi after falling from his bike in the Malaysian MotoGP.

Wheldon and Simoncelli were 33 and 24 years of age, correspondingly.
