Virgin also poised to change name
Virgin Racing has officially lodged a request to the Formula 1 Commission to have its name changed for 2012, becoming the third team to do so. The British outfit wishes to change its guise to ‘Marussia’, which is now the team’s largest shareholder.
Team names are just one of a selection of topics to be discussed in this week’s F1 Commission meetings, with Lotus Renault GP set to become ‘Lotus’ as Team Lotus switches to ‘Caterham’ branding for next season.
Virgin Racing was contacted by GPUpdate.net regarding its name change earlier this week, although the Sheffield-based squad is yet to comment on the matter.
