Massa is staying in 2012, Domenicali repeats

7 November 2011

Stefano Domenicali has categorically reiterated that Felipe Massa will be staying at Ferrari for the 2012 Formula 1 season. The Italian Team Principal is referring to a selection of recent rumours in the international press which have suggested that drivers such as Nico Rosberg have been talking to the Maranello squad.

“I am counting heavily on Felipe’s will to fight back as he knows next year will be a key one in which, and I’m convinced of it, he will be able to show his true worth,” says Domenicali, who took over as Team Principal from Jean Todt for 2008.

“As for the rumours regarding all the drivers who are due to arrive in Maranello to replace him, I can only repeat my words and indeed those only recently uttered by our President (Luca di Montezemolo) in every possible way: Felipe will also be with us in 2012 and that should make you understand how much faith we have in him.”

Massa is yet to win a race since the 2008 championship finale in Brazil which saw him narrowly lose out on the world title to McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton.
