Lotus Renault GP has confirmed that its Abu Dhabi Young Driver test line-up will consist of Robert Wickens, Kevin Korjus and Jan Charouz. The test will be staged at Yas Marina next week, following Round 18 of the World Championship.
Canadian Wickens – reserve driver for Virgin Racing and also testing for the Sheffield-based team next week – will begin proceedings on Tuesday, driving the Renault as a reward for this year’s World Series by Renault title. As revealed by GPUpdate.net in October, Estonia’s Korjus will be in the cockpit for Wednesday before Czech Charouz, one of the team’s handful of third drivers, takes over for Thursday.
“The young driver test in Abu Dhabi in is a great opportunity for us to cast our eyes over potential future stars of the sport,” says Team Principal Eric Boullier. “With a plethora of young hopefuls out there, we hope to spot very strong contenders for future F1 seats. We look forward to seeing how they get on.”
